AB The Albian carbonate platform of Karrantza (Bizkaia, N Spain) displays an important angular unconformity whose corresponding lacuna encompasses most of the middle Albian and the lowermost part of the upper Albian. This lacuna is established on biostratigraphic basis in the platform interior domain, and extends with decreasing magnitude towards the basin. Synsedimentary block tilting is envisaged to explain differential subsidence and the origin of the unconformity
