AB Deep society-wide crises tend to produce new economic thinking. 2020familiarized many millions with trauma and loss. It also intensified thequestioning – already started by the North Atlantic Financial Crisis (NAFC) of2007-12 and by the dramatic rise of China on world technology and militaryfrontiers – of the conservative ideology or world view which has dominated theeconomics profession and economic statecraft across the capitalist world forthe past four decades – dominated as though simple common sense, quietlytransforming western societies. This essay discusses the content of emergingthinking about the role of the state, and causes of the changes. But first,more on where we are coming from: from the deeply entrenched conservativeideology and its anti-government “intervention” in the economy
AB Las crisis sociales profundas tienden a producir un nuevo pensamientoeconómico. 2020 familiarizó a muchos millones con el trauma y la pérdida.También intensificó el cuestionamiento – ya iniciado por la Crisis Financieradel Atlántico Norte de 2007-12 y por el dramático ascenso de China en latecnología mundial y las fronteras militares – de la ideología conservadora ovisión del mundo que ha dominado la profesión económica y la formulaciónde políticas económicas en todo el mundo capitalista durante las últimascuatro décadas (dominado como simple sentido común, transformandosilenciosamente las sociedades occidentales). Este ensayo analiza el contenidodel pensamiento emergente sobre el papel del estado y las causas de loscambios.
