RT Journal Article T1 Dimensioning the term carbenoid A1 Caballero Bevia, Ana A1 Pérez Romero, Pedro José AB The current use of the term carbenoid isdiscussed, particularly in the context of carbene transferreactions from diazo compounds, where intermediates oftype LnM=CR1R2, or one of its resonance forms, are taggedwhich such name. We herein discuss this issue, on thebasis of the data evidencing the metal-carbene nature ofthose intermediates, as well as the existence of carbenoidsof type (N2)(M)C R1R2 en route to the formation to LnM=CR1R2’ from diazo reagents. We propose the exclusive use ofthe carbenoid term to species of type (X)(M)C R1R2 with atetrasubstituted carbon center that upon loss of X afford aneffective carbene transfer process.
