T1 Una reescritura dramática de la Odisea homérica: Circe y los cerdos de Carlota O’Neill

AB This paper studies Circe y los cerdos, a play by Carlota O’Neill where the episode ofCirce and Odysseus from the Homeric Odyssey is rewritten. The analysis offered mainly focuseson the portrait of the main characters (Circe, Ulysses and the pig-men) and on the intertextualrelationships between the two texts. In this regard special attention is given to the incorporationof the lines of the Homeric poem, often literally translated, into the dramatic text. Moreover, theresources used by the author to update the Homeric episode and give it a new meaning, in linewith her ideas and the message she wants to convey, are also pointed out.
