RT Journal Article T1 Estructuras sedimentarias de deformación interpretadas como sismitas en el Mioceno Superior (Turoliense) de la cuenca de Granada (Cordillera Bética) T1 Soft-sediment deformation structures interpreted as seismites in the late Miocene (Turolian) of the Granada basin(Betic Cordillera) A1 Alfaro García, Pedro A1 Galindo Zaldívar, Jesús A1 Jabaloy, A. A1 López Garrido, Ángel Carlos A1 Sanz de Galdeano, Carlos AB We studied various Upper Miocene (Turolian) layers of superimposed soft-sediment deformation structuresinduced by liquefaction in the Granada basin (Betic Cordillera). These are principally load structures:sagging and dome load casts, ball-and-pillow and drop structures. Based on analyses of their morphologyand of the facies, these have been interpreted as being the result of liquefaction of non-cohesive sedimentsduring earthquakes. The intense synsedimentary fracturing and the presence of seismites highlight thestrongly influence of tectonic activity in the Granada basin during the Late Miocene, with earthquakes ofmoderate to high magnitude occurring which were capable of liquefying the sediment YR 2006 FD 2006 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8599 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8599 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 30 may 2026
