AB A genetic relationship has been proved between the Ayoluengo oil and the Liassic source-rock in the Basque-Cantabrian Basin. The oil-source correlation has been established on the basis of different parameters from gas chromatographic analyses of saturated hydrocarbons and carbon isotope analyses of the whole oil/extract. These new data confirms previous sedimentological and geochemical conclusions, which indicate a marine oil-source with a predominance of algallamorphous organic matter deposited under restricted conditions
