AB Este artículo estudia cómo Lope de Vega solucionó la presión que ejercieron sobre la estructura de La Dragontealos diversos encargos a que respondía la obra, que narra la trayectoria de Francis Drake (Draque) y, digresivamente,la derrota análoga de otro célebre corsario: la de Richard Hawkins (Ricardo Áquines). El Fénix zurció estos materialesvariopintos en un todo de dispositio coherente cuyas digresiones se apoyan en un recurso esencial: la figurade un narrador cortesano que reflexiona explícitamente sobre su arte.
AB This article examines how Lope de Vega dealt with the pression which exerted on the structure of La Dragonteatwo different commands and intentions: to narrate the life and battles of Francis Drake (Draque) and to, digressively,paint the analogous defeat suffered by another famous corsair: Richard Hawkins (Ricardo Áquines). Lopepasted together these materials in a structure of coherent dispositio whose digressions rest on an essential literaryresource: a courtesan narrator who explicitly reflects on his art.
