AB In midst the ongoing COVID19 pandemic,there is an inherent need to consider theeffects on education in poorer regions of theglobe. Students from Western countries andmore privileged backgrounds have managedto continue learning albeit Universities havingclosed in the most difficult moments of thePandemic. Students from disadvantaged regionsand poorer backgrounds however, veryoften remained isolated when their institutionshut down during the pandemic.In this paper the authors discuss a sociallyinnovative initiative that enables building a communityof international learning based on a popularmethodology named COIL (CollaborativeOnline International Learning). The methodologyrelies on the use of openly available onlineplatforms that allow students and lecturers to beconnected digitally, thus making learning resourcesavailable to students no matter their location.It allows for an intense peer-to-peer learning environmentand promotes the virtual teamworkon real cases and assignments
AB En medio de la actual pandemia de COVID19,hay una necesidad inherente de considerarlos efectos en la educación en las regionesmás pobres del mundo. Los estudiantesde los países occidentales y de entornosmás privilegiados han conseguido seguiraprendiendo, aunque las Universidades hayancerrado debido a la pandemia. Sin embargo,los estudiantes de regiones desfavorecidas sequedaron, a menudo, aislados cuando su institucióncerró durante la pandemia.En este artículo, las autoras discuten una iniciativasocialmente innovadora que permite construiruna comunidad de aprendizaje internacionalbasada en una metodología popular llamadaCOIL (Collaborative Online International Learning).Basada en el uso de plataformas online delibre acceso que permiten conectar digitalmentea estudiantes y profesores, poniendo así los recursosde aprendizaje a disposición de los estudiantessin importar su ubicación. Permite un entornode aprendizaje entre pares y promueve el trabajoen equipo virtual sobre casos y tareas reales
