AB L’article analitza els efectes socials ieconòmics dels episodis de contaminacióminera més greus ocorreguts al Canadà enla primera meitat del segle XX i s’abordenels diferents aspectes del problema de lacontaminació minera (legal, científic, tècnic,polític i econòmic), la resolució delqual va sorgir d’una complexa barrejad’experiències pròpies i alienes. La tardanaincorporació de les conques minerescanadenques a les xarxes de comerç mundiali el pes del sector miner en l’economianacional i internacional a partir definal del segle XIX confereixen un especialinterès a aquest cas.
AB The article studies the social and economiceffects of the worst episodes ofmining pollution in Canada during the firsthalf of the twentieth century and looks atthe various aspects of the problem ofmining pollution (legal, scientific, technical,political, and economic), the solutionof which was the outcome of a complexmixture of experiences, both domestic andalien. The late incorporation of the Canadianmining basins to world trade networksand the weight of the mining sectorin the national and international economyfrom the late nineteenth century onwardconfer special interest to this particularcase.
