AB The theory of the short novellas in Spain develops, as in Italy, at themargins of the poetic doctrine. However one may speak of a theory ofthe genre from two points of view: on the one hand from its detachmentfrom poetics, and on the other, from its relationships with theater. Lugo yDavila's fruitless attempt to adapt the genre to the precepts of Aristotleshows the need to consider it apart from neoaristotelism. This relationshipwith theater, nevertheless, allows us to speak about its dramatic structure,which is to be found both in theory and practice. Thus, a peculiar newart of making short novellas,. is shaped its fundamental characteristicbeing a distance from any other way of speculating about literature.
AB La teoría de las novelas cortas en España se desarrolla, al igual que en Italia, en los márgenes de la doctrina poética. Sin embargo, se puede hablar de una teoría del género desde dos puntos de vista: el primero, desde su ruptura con la poética, y el segundo, desde su relación con el teatro. El intento infructífero de Lugo y Davila de adaptar el género a los preceptos de Aristóteles muestra la necesidad de considerarlo al margen del neoaristotelismo. Sin embargo, esta relación con el teatro nos permite hablar sobre su estructura dramática, que se encuentra tanto en la teoría como en la práctica. De este modo, se perfila el peculiar y novedoso arte de las novelas cortas, siendo su principal característica el estar distanciado de cualquier otra especulación sobre literatura.
