T1 Offshore morphological differentiation in the Gibraltar Threshold: preliminary results

AB Offshore, the bathymetry of the Gibraltar Straits, situated in the westernmost Mediterranean, ischaracterized by an area of topographic highs which link the Spanish and Marrocan platforms, the socalledGibraltar Threshold («Umbral»). A detailed study of its bathymetric map and morphology permits tocharacterize three zones according to the scarps and crests distribution, together with their orientationand profile. These zones are separated by two morphologic traces, approximately E-W directed, interpretedas main tectonic lineament
