AB Este trabajo trata del concepto y elprograma de los studia humanitatis en elhumanista español Benito Arias Montano(1527-1598). Se comenta aquí el Virorumdoctorum (1572), obra publicada por AriasMontano en colaboración con el artista holandésPhilips Galle en Amberes, donde sepuede apreciar su apología del humanismoeuropeo. El trabajo hace hincapié en la pluralidadde temas y en la diversidad e internacionalidadde los humanistas retratadosen este libro.
AB This paper examines the Spanish humanistBenito Arias Montano’s conceptand programme of studia humanitatis. Thepaper looks specifically at the Virorum doctorum(1572), a work published by AriasMontano together with the Dutch artistPhilips Galle in Antwerp, and focuses onits apology for European humanism. Thepaper details the plurality of subjects andthe diversity and international aspects ofthe humanist writers depicted in the book.
