AB La motivación de este estudio es comprender la importancia que tienen las oportunidadesde aprendizaje (OTL)**** que ofrece el profesor en su aula a la hora de facilitar la adquisiciónde las competencias matemáticas de sus estudiantes (CM). Con este fin, nuestro objetivoes describir las posibles relaciones entre OTL y CM. En este artículo presentamos elmodelo teórico OTL-CM que trata de describir, explicar y predecir los fenómenos de laenseñanza-aprendizaje, en términos de que ciertas OTL (que ofrecen los profesores ensus aulas) pueden favorecer el desarrollo de ciertas CM. Este modelo es útil en laobservación de situaciones de enseñanza-aprendizaje como instrumento que puedeayudar a explicarlas e interpretarlas.
AB The aim of this study is to understand the importance of the Opportunities-to-Learn(OTL) offered by teachers in the classroom in facilitating the acquisition of mathematicalcompetence (CM) of their students. Accordingly, our goal is to find and describe thepossible relationship between OTL and CM. In this paper we present the theoreticalmodel OTL-CM which seeks to describe, explain and predict the phenomena of teachingand learning, in terms of how certain OTL (offered by teachers in their classrooms) mayfavor the development of certain CM. This model can be applied in observing teachinglearningsettings as an instrument that can help explain and interpret them.
