RT Journal Article T1 Fases diagenéticas en conchas de rudistas caprotínidos y monopléuridos del Complejo Urgoniano de la Punta del Castillo (Albiense inferior, Gorliz, Bizkaia) T1 Diagenetic phases in caprotinid and monopleurid rudist shells from the Urgonian Complex of El Castillo Cape (LowerAlbian, Gorliz, Bizkaia) A1 Regidor Higuera, I. A1 Aranburu Artano, Arantza A1 García Garmilla, Francisco AB The Urgonian limestones of El Castillo Cape (lower Albian) were deposited in a shallow platform in whichdeveloped rudist and coral constructions. A further karstification created caves at metrical scale filled by sandydeposits. The rudist assemblages consist largely on bouquets and thickets of caprotinids in whose interspacesgrew bouquets of monopleurids. A complex diagenetic history occurred upon both caprotinid and monopleuridshells, from early stages (vadose meteoric dissolution) to more advanced ones (neomorphism and selectivedolomitization) to later ones (stylolitization and tectonic fracturing). The monopleurid hipostracum seems to bethe more alterable part of the shell, because it appears frequently dissolved and filled by micrite. On the otherhand, the hipostracum of caprotinids shows in some cases its original aragonitic prismatic polygonal microstructurepartially preserved, in a major degree when close to micritic zones in which the water movement was restrained PB Sociedad Geológica de España YR 2004 FD 2004 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8870 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8870 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 31 may 2026
