AB El presente artículo se propone explicarcómo la Innovación Social y, concretamente,la Innovación Social Tecnológica, puede ser y,en muchos casos, es la respuesta a los nuevosdesafíos de la humanidad.Concretamente, en este artículo se presentan los resultados preliminares de una investigación que pone de manifiesto cómo latecnología ha llegado a ser un ingredienteesencial en un altísimo porcentaje de innovaciones sociales y que, por tanto, existe unaestrecha relación entre tecnología y desarrollosostenible.A través del estudio empírico, comparadoy anclado en los datos, de cien casos de estudio de innovación social, se evidencia unasuerte de alquimia que hace posible, potenciay escala la innovación social, la tecnología y eldesarrollo humano y sostenible
