RT Journal Article T1 Barriers for the implementation of knowledge management in employee portals A1 Pérez Feijoo, Héctor Marcos A1 García Ordaz, Mercedes A1 Martínez López, Francisco José AB Employee portals are an opportunity to develop knowledge management inside organizations. In this context is crucial todetermine the barriers that could potentially prevent the implementation of these systems. The study aims to establish the barriersthat influence the intention of use of employee portals that embed knowledge management. We’ve used structural equationmodeling to conduct an empirical study of four models, based on the main categories of barriers pointed in the scientificliterature: characteristics of the innovation, properties of employees, properties of job and organizational factors. We choose theeducational public sector in Spain, where knowledge management is a key factor. The results have found evidence on thesebarriers with the exception of some of them related to properties of individuals’ category. We conclude the study with a set ofrecommendations for the developers that could help in avoiding the effects of such barriers.
