AB Este trabajo examina las características del proceso de transformación productivay de lento crecimiento económico de Alemania entre 1995 y 2007.Para ello, analiza un conjunto de variables que vinculan la evolución de lademanda y la distribución del ingreso con la estructura productiva. El análisiscombina el estudio del comportamiento económico agregado con la desagregaciónpor grupos de ramas productivas. De esta manera se pueden constatarlas grandes diferencias que registran casi todas las variables analizadas entre,por un lado, las ramas de mayor intensidad tecnológica y el resto. El análisispermite formular una explicación de la forma en que la economía alemanaexperimentó a la vez una profunda transformación productiva y un lento crecimientodurante el período anterior a la crisis financiera.
AB This paper examines the characteristics of the processes of the productivetransformation and slow growth which Germany went through between1995 and 2007 by analysing a set of variables which connect the evolutionof demand and the income distribution with productive structure. The analysiscombines the study of aggregate economic behaviour to the disaggregatedstudy of groups pertaining to productive branches. In this manner it is possibleto observe large differences in almost all the analysed variables, which existbetween evolution of the most technology-intensive manufactures and the restof the branches. This analysis allows us to formulate an explanation of the wayin which German economy went through a profound productive transformationand a slow growth process simultaneously, during the period preceding theglobal financial crisis.
