T1 The imbricate fan of Valverde del Camino (southern part of the South Portuguese Zone, Huelva)

AB The South Portuguese Zone is a foreland affected by a thin-skinned tectonics characterized by SSW-vergent thrust-and-folds developed in Carboniferous times as a consequence of the Variscan collision. In the Valverde del Camino area, detailed mapping and structural analysis show the existence of a fault-propagation antiform related to an imbricate fan with SSW sense of movement. The thrusts of this imbricate fan merge at depth with a detachment located in the middle crust. The total displacement produced by the imbricate fan is very scarce, most of the shortening being probably accommodated by folding and cleavage development
