AB Desde el uso de los mensajes SMS se ha venidoutilizando un lenguaje escrito cada vez másabreviado, que lejos de parecer una deformacióndel lenguaje, sigue un código único y especialque ha “evolucionado” entre los usuariosactivos de las “nuevas” redes sociales. En estetrabajo se busca determinar el grado de recuerdoen los mensajes abreviados de Whatsappen una muestra de 32 participantes, divididosen jóvenes (20-25 años) y adultos (45-55 años).De igual forma, se investiga el coste cognitivoque supone la lectura de un mensaje abreviadocon emoticonos frente a uno no abreviado siguiendola normativa de la RAE. De este análisisse obtienen varias conclusiones principales. Laprimera es que el lenguaje abreviado es capazde transmitir la información más destacada acosta de un mayor tiempo de lectura, aunquelos sujetos se vean competentes. Segundo, haymayores ideas principales en hombres adultos ymujeres jóvenes. Tercero, hay un mayor númerode ideas distorsionadas para los adultos dela condición abreviada y jóvenes sin abreviar.Todo esto hace que este lenguaje tenga unascaracterísticas y finalidad que lo hace ser unlenguaje vivo y único.
AB Ever since the days of SMS texts people havebeen using a progressively abbreviated language,which further from looking like a deformation ofthe language itself, follows a unique and specialcode which has ‘’evolved’’ among the activeusers of the ‘’new’’ social networks. This workis scoped towards determining the degree ofremembrance in shortened Whatsapp messagesout of a 32 participant sample, divided as young(age 20-25) and adult (age 45-55). Similarly, itis also investigated the cognitive costs of thereading of a shortened message with emoticonsas opposed to a non-shortened which followsthe regulations of RAE. Out of this analysis severalmain conclusions are obtained. The first onebeing that the abbreviated language is capable oftransmitting the most outstanding information atthe expense of a greater reading time, despite thesubjects looking competent enough. Secondly,there is a bigger quantity of main ideas in adultmen and young women. Lastly, there is a biggernumber of distorted ideas among adults of theabbreviated condition and among the youth of thenon-shortened one. All of these concepts providethe language with the characteristics and purposethat make it be a unique and living language.
