T1 Das margens à criminalidade: As mulheres e o crime no norte do Portugal de oitocentos

AB Neste trabalho, procuramos analisara relação da mulher com a criminalidade,tendo como base dois delitos que, no séculoxix e ainda nas primeiras décadas doséculo xx, eram considerados tipicamentefemininos: o aborto e o infanticídio. Trata-se de dois crimes cujo estudo é dificultadopelo secretismo que, geralmente, os envolviae pelo estigma que recaía sobre os implicadosno seu cometimento A nossa investigaçãoincide sobre este tipo de delitos,praticados no distrito de Viana do Castelo,situado no norte de Portugal. Para o efeito,recorremos a fontes judiciais, a estatísticascriminais organizadas pelas autoridadesadministrativas, bem como a trabalhosmédicos, nos quais se procurava explicar aocorrência destes delitos e a sua associaçãoao género feminino.
AB In this work, we seek to analyze the relationshipbetween women and crime, basedon two crimes that, in the 19th centuryand even in the first decades of the 20thcentury, were considered typically female:abortion and infanticide. These are twocrimes whose study is made difficult by thesecrecy that generally involved them andthe stigma that fell on those involved intheir commission. from Portugal. For thispurpose, we used judicial sources, criminalstatistics organized by the administrativeauthorities, as well as medical studies, inwhich we tried to explain the occurrenceof these crimes and their association withthe female gender.
