AB Los extensos afloramientos aluviales del Bajo Guadalquivir constituyenun complejo sistema de terrazas, situado en la margen izquierda del río. Laactual llanura de inundación se encuentra en posición marginal. Las terrazasmás altas y alejadas del cauce actual, atribuidas al Pleistoceno inferior,se sitúan a unos 140 metros sobre la llanura de inundación. Esta disposiciónpuede ser explicada por el levantamiento y basculamiento hacia el noroestey norte de las terrazas, lo que habría provocado la migración del río Guadalquivirdurante el Cuaternario. La evolución del sistema fluvial del BajoGuadalquivir puede relacionarse con la evolución tectónica reciente de lasBéticas occidentales, puesto que el trazado del río y la distribución en plantade las terrazas mimetizan las directrices estructurales del Arco de Gibraltary la migración del frente de deformación bético
AB Extensive alluvial outcrops of the Lower Guadalquivir River constitute acomplex system of terraces, placed in the left margin of the river. The currentfloodplain is placed in outlying position. The highest and most distant fromthe current riverbed terraces are placed about 140 meters above the floodplainand have been attributed to the Late Pleistocene. This position can beexplained by upward and tilting towards NW and N of the terrace system,which would have provoked the migration of the Guadalquivir River duringQuaternary times. The evolution of the Low Guadalquivir fluvial system canbe related to the recent tectonic evolution of western Betics, since the rivercourse and the plan distribution of different terraces follow the structuraltrend of Gibraltar Arch and the migration of the Betic deformation front
