RT Journal Article T1 Contribución al conocimiento de la geología del depósito de Au-Cu de "La Pava" (Península de Azuero, Panamá) T1 Contribution to the knowledge of the geology of the «La Pava» Au-Cu deposit (Azuero Peninsula, Panama) A1 Corral, Isaac A1 Cardellach, Esteve A1 Gómez Gras, David A1 Canals, Àngels AB The «La Pava» Au-Cu deposit is hosted by a vulcanosedimentary sequence, named Ocú Formation, developed in an island arc environment that resulted from the subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath theCaribbean Plate during the Cretaceous times. The deposit consists of disseminations and stockworks ofpyrite and chalcopyrite accompanied by barite, quartz and carbonates. Three hydrothermal alterationzones have been recognized: silicic, argillic and propilityc, typical of gold-related high sulfidation systems.A supergenic alteration overprints the hydrothermal alterations developing a cap rich in silica and Feoxides. The detailed study of the Ocú Fm. indicates that the sulfides and the accompanying gold wasformed in a submarine environment. Therefore we suggest that «La Pava» represents an Au-Cu hybriddeposit between high sulphidation epithermal and VMS types, which are found in volcanogenic massivesulphide environments YR 2009 FD 2009 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8027 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8027 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 1 jun 2026
