AB En este artículo se analiza la emigración española a América Latina y el Caribe entre 2008 y2016, con los objetivos de conocer, de manera aproximada, el número de españoles, nacidos en Españay mayores de dieciocho años, que han emigrado a los países de América Latina y el Caribe endicho período, definir el perfil del nuevo emigrante español a América Latina y el Caribe, conocerlas causas de su emigración y sus expectativas de futuro. Para ello se ha utilizado una metodologíamixta. Se concluye que estos emigrantes son jóvenes, y no tan jóvenes, la mayoría con alta cualificación,expulsados de España por la crisis económica y atraídos a América Latina y el Caribe porlas oportunidades laborales que existen en estos países en determinados sectores laborales. Entresus expectativas de futuro, predomina la idea del retorno a España.
AB The article analyzes the Spanish emigration to Latin America between 2008 and 2015, withthe prospect to approach a quantitative reality, of understanding the demographic profile of thenew Spanish emigrants to Latin America, the causes of their migration, the initial problems ofmigration process and their expectations of the future. We use a mixed quantitative and qualitativemethodological strategy, combining first and second order research. Findings include that thesemigrants are mostly young and middle-aged workers, highly qualified and with work experience,pushed from Spain by the economic crisis and attracted to Latin America for its labor opportunities.However, the idea of returning to Spain predominates.
