T1 Gadir, su estructura plural.Un modo de ver su fundación fenicia en el espacio y en el tiempo
T1 Gadir, its plural structure. A way to look atthe Phoenician foundation in space and in time

AB Los textos clásicos nos indican que los feniciostirios fundaron Gadir en una isla frente a la costacercana. En los extremos de la isla fundaron eltemplo de Melqart y la ciudad de Gadir. Lo quesucedió en el año 1100 a.C., ochenta años despuésde la caída y toma de Troya. Este mito se hacreído y aceptado durante siglos e incluso en laactualidad muchos mantienen esta fecha. Sinembargo, los datos arqueológicos de estos últimosaños ofrecen otra visión más objetiva del espaciofundacional de Gadir y del tiempo en que se realizó.En cuanto a la fecha, la de 1100 a.C. no se hacomprobado y seguramente no se hará nunca. Ladatación más antigua de las primeras actividadesy presencia fenicia en Occidente se hallan en losestratos profundos de la ciudad de Huelva, de laprimera mitad del siglo IX a.C.. Y después, losfenicios fundaron en el mismo tiempo un pequeñoestablecimiento en la isla gaditana (TC), la ciudadfortificada del CDB (El Puerto de Santa María), enla desembocadura del rio Guadalete, y el templo deMelqart, en el extremo oriental de la isla. De estemodo plural es como debemos ver el espacio que seampara bajo el topónimo Gadir. Y el tiempo entreel siglo IX y VIII a.C.
AB According to classical texts, Phoenicians fromthe city-state of Tyre found in the West, on along island in front of the nearby coast, the cityand a temple dedicated to Melqart -protector godof Tyre- at both ends. What happened in the year1100 B.C., eighty years after the fall of Troy. Thismyth has been believed for centuries and even untila few years ago. The archaeological findings onthe island of Cádiz and other point in the south ofthe Iberian Peninsula show more complexity andreality compared to written texts. The date of 1100B.C. it can not be maintained and the foundationof the city must be located at the end of the 9thcentury B.C. or beginning of the 8th B.C. ThePhoenician city was founded at the same time asCastillo de Doña Blanca (CDB) (El Puerto de SantaMaría, Cadiz), a fortified Phoenician city in theancient mouth of the Guadalete River, and belowthe Sierra de San Cristóbal. On the other hand, theoldest Phoenician materials of the West has beenfounded in the current city of Huelva, dated inthe second half of the 9th century B.C., decadesbefore the foundation of Cadiz.
