AB La libertad de imprenta fue uno de losderechos considerados prioritarios por elliberalismo gaditano, como lo demuestratanto su temprano estudio por parte de lasCortes de Cádiz, que acabaron regulándoloapenas un mes y medio después de suprimera reunión, como su inclusión mástarde en la Constitución de 1812. En estetrabajo no sólo analizamos el proceso dereconocimiento de la libertad de imprenta,sino también la reacción que provocóentre la opinión conservadora, muy críticatanto con el derecho en sí mismo, comocon las primeras consecuencias que estabateniendo sobre la naciente opinión públicaespañola.
AB Freedom of the press was one of therights to which Cadiz liberalism conferredpriority. This is evidenced by both his earlystudy by the Cortes of Cadiz, who regulatedit just a month and a half after its firstmeeting, and their final inclusion in the1812 Constitution. In this work we analyzenot only the process of recognition ofthe freedom of the press, but also the reactionthat it caused among the conservatives,very critical with the right itself, andwith the first consequences that its recognitionwas having on the emerging Spanishpublic opinion.
