AB At Rome, the study of the past beginstwo centuries after the greek historiansdid it, and the writers of the end of theRepublic, at least those ones that saw thehistory as a part of the rethorical speech,have a no favourable opinion about thoseearly authors, who were named as annalistsand whose reports were the opposedview of the rethorical method. Historyand rethoric, early or modern history,free or indulgent speech, recitation ordeclamation, at the end, the decline ofthe historiography, these ones and otherssubjects are studied in this paper
