A. A1 Beaumont, C. A1 Fullsack, P. A1 Hamilton, J. AB Numerical geodynamical models guided by the geological evolution of the central Pyrenees show the role of some of the major factors controling the development and the final geometrical style of the collisional orogens. Models are controlled by kinematic boundary conditions as determined by the subduction of part of the lithosphere as well as by initial crustal properties. Model results show that one of the major factors of the evolution of a collisional orogen is the geometry and characteristics of the inherited crust. The selected physical properties of the crust and the boundary conditions, including the subduction of the Iberian lower crust together with the lithospheric mantle, explain the crustal structure and the foreland basin geometry of the intermediate orogenic states as compared with partial restored cross-sections as well as the observed final geometry PB Sociedad Geológica de España YR 1996 FD 1996 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/12175 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/12175 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 30 may 2026
