RT Journal Article T1 Breast Cancer Treatment in Integrated Care Process in Andalusia: The Challenge of Multidisciplinarity A1 Rodríguez Reinado, Carmen A1 Delgado Parrilla, Ana A1 Alguacil Ojeda, Juan AB Despite the increasing trend in the incidence of breast cancer in recent decades, mortality hasdecreased in developed countries. The general objective of the study is to analyse the functioning andorganisation of the care process for breast cancer treatment in Andalusia (Spain) in order to identifypossible barriers and facilitators that may be affecting its effectiveness and, therefore, the survival ofthe disease. A qualitative method was adopted based on 19 semi-structured interviews with healthprofessionals from different specialities in two Andalusian provinces: Huelva (mortality rate higherthan the national average) and Granada (mortality rate similar to the national average). Resultsshow the existence of barriers (seasonal delays, low frequency of multidisciplinary meetings, lack ofhuman and technical resources, difficulties in accessing treatment in certain populations, etc.) andfacilitators (creation of multidisciplinary units and committees for breast pathology, standardisationof treatments, assignment of professionals with preferential attention to breast pathology, etc.) in thecare process of breast cancer treatment. The combination of these barriers can have an impact on theaccessibility, quality, and efficacy of the treatment, and in the long term, on survival from the disease PB MDPI SN 1661-7827 SN 1660-4601 (electrónico) YR 2022 FD 2022-10 LK https://hdl.handle.net/10272/21560 UL https://hdl.handle.net/10272/21560 LA eng NO Rodríguez-Reinado, C., Delgado-Parrilla, A., & Alguacil, J.
