AB El estudio estratigráfico y petrológico del conjunto de afloramientos basálticosde la región del Baix Ebre (Tarragona), permite confirmar un vulcanismoalcalino pluriepisódico acontecido durante el Triásico Superior. Puedendistinguirse dos etapas principales en función del estilo eruptivo predominante:una inicial hidromagmática, emplazada en el Keuper basal, y otra estrombolianaque llega al techo del Keuper, por debajo de la Fm. Dolomías deImón (Retiense). En esta última etapa los materiales masivos, emplazados enforma de sills, transportan xenolitos mantélicos, más abundantes en el sectoroccidental. En Prat de Compte es donde se da la mayor abundanciamodal de xenolitos, y con diámetro máximo, siendo tal vez el lugar más próximoal foco magmático principal
AB The stratigraphic and petrological study of basaltic outcrops in the BaixEbre volcanic region (Tarragona, Spain) indicates the development of apluriepisodic alkaline volcanism during the Late Triassic. Two magmaticstages can be recognised based on the main eruptive style: an initial hidromagmaticstage emplaced within the basal Keuper and a strombolian stageemplaced into the upper Keuper, always below the Imón Fm. (Rhaetian). Inthis last stage massive igneous bodies (sills) carried xenoliths, which aremore abundant in the western part of the studied sector.We thimk that themagmatic centre was probably situated close to Prat de Compte, given thatin this area there is a greater modal abundance of xenoliths, showing themaximum diameter
