RT Journal Article T1 Estudio hidroquímico comparativo en dos sectores con minas abandonadas de sulfuros metálicos: distrito de Linares-La Carolina (Jaén) T1 Comparative hydrochemical study in two sectors with abandoned metallic sulfide mines: Linares – La Carolinamining district (Jaén) A1 Hidalgo Estévez, Mari Carmen A1 Benavente Herrera, José A1 El Mabrouki, K. A1 Rey Arrans, Javier AB The Linares-La Carolina abandoned sulfide mines are partially flooded at present and the demand of waterresources have led to the pumping of groundwater directly from the old shafts. There is a scarce mobilisationof heavy metals into the waters in the Linares area, which are characterized by net alkaline conditions (pHvalues from 6.7 to 8.2). Nevertheless, acid mine drainage is detected in La Carolina mining district, wherepH values range from 3.4 to 7.3 and mine waters are characterized by a wide range of mineralization(from 300 mS/cm to 5500 mS/cm, approximately). In addition, Fe and Mn reach tens of mg/l, not only inacid mine drainage adits but also in some alkaline waters. These different hydrochemical types are interpretedas being due to the influence of the particular lithologies and hydrodynamic conditions of these mines PB Sociedad Geológica de España YR 2005 FD 2005 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8659 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8659 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 1 jun 2026
