AB The history of nativism has been exhaustively studied andanalyzed. One of the most controversial aspects of this literature pertains tothe relationship between nativism and populism. Its exact nature, however,is unclear and calls for investigation. The main objective of this article is toshed light on a question that goes to the very heart of the current debate onradical right-wing populism: namely, what is the place and role of nativismin populist mobilization
