En las siguientes páginas se exponen y discuten las distintas interpretaciones ofrecidas al término. Asímismo se analizan la función y grado de dependencia de los individuos que la practican para concluir que, independientemente de su acepción original (posesión = pertenencia), el término debe de ser interpretado como reflejo en el lenguaje religioso del período helenístico de las nuevas relaciones entre el devoto y el dios.________________________________The katochos is described as a serapeic servant, but the real meaning of this kind of
servitude and its function remain unclear. In this paper, I expose the different hypotheses
proposed to conclude that this word has to be seen as a token in the religious terminology
