T1 Valuation and authenticity of Architectural Heritage:the intangible component

AB El presente artículo pretende analizar elPatrimonio Arquitectónico desde un enfoquepoco común, centrándose fundamentalmenteen sus valores inmateriales. El estudio vienemotivado por la vital importancia de este tipo debienes para la conformación de la identidad de undeterminado pueblo. A través del análisis de unaserie de hitos arquitectónicos de distintas culturasy diversa naturaleza, hemos puesto en evidencia ladificultad que entraña la restauración de este tipode Patrimonio, pues los límites de cada actuacióndependerán de la correcta identificación del conjuntode valores que caracterizan a cada monumento.A pesar de que el Patrimonio Arquitectónico sepresenta a la sociedad a través de su materialidad,en ocasiones son otro tipo de valores los queadquieren mayor importancia. Es entonces cuandoel valor inmaterial resulta clave, pues determinarála verdadera “autenticidad” de los edificios. LaCarta de Nara de 1994 ha tratado esta problemáticade forma genérica, permitiendo respetar la enormedisparidad de culturas que habitan nuestro planeta,así como la manera de enfrentarse a la conservaciónde su Patrimonio Arquitectónico
AB This article aims to analyze the ArchitecturalHeritage from a rare perspective, focusing mainlyon its immaterial values. The study is motivated bythe vital importance of this type of property forthe shaping of the identity of a particular society.Through the analysis of a series of buildings ofdifferent cultures and diverse nature, we havehighlighted the difficulty involved in restoring thistype of heritage, because the limits of each actionwill depend on the correct identification of theset of values that characterize each monument.Despite the fact that the Architectural Heritageis presented to society through its materiality, itis sometimes another type of value that acquiresgreater importance. It is then when the immaterialvalue becomes key, as it will determine the true“authenticity” of the buildings. The Nara Charterof 1994 has dealt with this problem in a genericway, allowing to respect the enormous disparityof cultures that inhabit our planet, as well as theway to face the conservation of its ArchitecturalHeritage
