RT Journal Article T1 Paleoclima y diagénesis en las calizas rojas de Ereño (Aptiense superior-Albiense inferior, Bizkaia) T1 Palaeoclimate and diagenesis in the red limestones of Ereño (upper Aptian-lower Albian, Bizkaia) A1 Damas Mollá, Laura A1 Aranburu Artano, Arantza A1 García Garmilla, Francisco AB Carbon and Oxygen isotopic values measured on rudist and Chondrodonta sp. shells from the redurgonian limestones of Ereño (Upper Aptian-Lower Albian, Bizkaia) have been demonstrated to be a veryuseful tool for reconstruction of both palaeoenvironmental features and diagenetic conditions that affectedthe famous ornamental stone. The δ18O‰ (PDB) values obtained from rudist recrystallized hipostracasuggest an influence of increasing diagenetic temperatures rather than the action of meteoric waters duringearly diagenetic stages. On the other hand, the δ18O‰ (PDB) values from diagenetically less-affectedshells (Chondrodonta sp.) and parts of the shells (rudist miostraca) reveal palaeotemperatures of 19-27ºCvery close to those of coetaneous marine waters and compatible with the seasonal variations describedfor a 30ºN palaeolatitude in the Tethys domain. Palaeoesalinities in the marine waters of the Ereño platformcould oscillate between 32-36‰, slightly above the normal values recorded at present YR 2009 FD 2009 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/7987 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/7987 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 15 jun 2026
