RT Journal Article T1 Estudio de la capacidad de adsorción del manganeso en suelos y sedimentos fluviales del distrito minero de Linares (Jaén) T1 Manganese adsorption on soils and bed sedlments from the Linares mining district (Jaen) A1 El Mabrouki, K. A1 Carrillo, C. A1 Benavente Herrera, José A1 Hidalgo Estévez, Mari Carmen AB Manganese adsorption is studied in batch experiments with material collected in the Linares mining district (Jaén). Samples were taken from a 25 cm depth horizon in Quaternary and Miocene soils and bed sediments of the Cuadiel River. The parameters controlling metal uptake have been evaluated in order to analyze the influence of soil composition on the fixation of manganese from aqueous solutions. Soils and bed sediments are characterized by basic pH and elevated content on organic matter, clay fraction and Fe and Al oxides, with maximum values in Miocene soil samples. Such physical-chemical characteristics favor the adsorption capacity of soils. In fact, Mn batch experiments show a very high solute saturation density in Miocene marls (about 1 700 mg/g), even greater than the adsorption capacity in Quaternary soil and bed sediment samples (about 1200 mg/g). This first results indicate a high immobilization capacity for manganese, impeding the advance of the contamination under natural conditions PB Sociedad Geológica de España YR 2000 FD 2000 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/9785 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/9785 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 1 jun 2026
