AB A detailed cyclostratigraphic and paleomagnetic study was carried out on the cyclically bedded successionof Pliocene and Pleistocene floodplain deposits FP-1(Guadix Basin, Spain). Sedimentary cycles are recognisedat least on two different scales. The hierarchy is interpreted to represent periodic alluvial fan expansionover the floodplain area. The cyclicity is affected by a change in the sedimentary conditions aged 1.778Ma, coinciding with the boundary between the two most modern genetic units of the Guadix Basincontinental filling (unit V and unit VI). The aim of this work is to discuss the possibility of relating thecyclicity of the sediments from the FP-1 section with the astronomical cycles of Milankovitch
