Intereses señoriales, necesidadesdefensivas y cuestiones de prestigiose dieron cita en una serie de discusionesen las que la voz distante del duque andaluzse hizo sentir de forma muy notableen Madrid._____________________________________________This article explores the process of decision-making by which the dukes of MedinaSidonia –being at this time the mainmilitary authority in the Lower Andalusia-took strategic decisions regarding tothe harbour in which should the AtlanticArmada remain during the winter season.Seignourial interests, defensive prioritiesand prestige matters were some of theissues that more clearly influenced in aseries of debates in which, although thedistance, the Medina Sidonia’s where ableto be listened by the government in Madrid.
