AB El presente estudio ofrece una interpretación tipológica de dos episodios clave dentro de La Dragontea (1598) deLope de Vega: la resistencia montada por los cimarrones de Santiago del Príncipe contra Francis Drake y la capturadel pirata Richard Hawkins en las costas del Perú. A la luz de esta lectura, enfocada en estos personajes ysus vicisitudes, me propongo reevaluar la obra ofreciendo una interpretación más matizada de La Dragontea en laque las fronteras entre el bien y el mal son más permeables de lo que pudiera parecer.
AB This article offers a typological interpretation of two key-episodes of Love de Vega’s La Dragontea (1598): theresistance of the maroons of Santiago del Príncipe against Francis Drake and the capture of the pirate RichardHawkins in the Peruvian coastline. Through this reading, focused on these characters and their misfortunes, Ipropose a reinterpretation of the work and more nuanced understanding of La Dragontea in which the boundariesbetween good and evil are more fluid than it might seem.
