AB The geochemical characterization of the San Quintín mine pond is the aim of this study. This kind ofwaste deposits represents large accumulations of reactive minerals and subsequently, emission sources ofheavy metals and formation of acid drainage. Samples from three boreholes have been analyzed in orderto obtain a series of relevant parameters, such as the mineralogical and chemical composition, its distributionand variation in depth. Heavy metals content are significant in studied samples, but acid mine drainagehas not been detected affecting the San Quintín mine pond
