AB Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de la literatura publicadaen las últimas dos décadas sobre el vínculo entre maternidad y carrerasacadémicas, analizando su impacto, vacíos y sesgos. La evidencia sistematizadaconstata que la maternidad afecta negativamente la movilidad internacional, laproductividad y el acceso a cargos académicos. Factores clave que amplificanestos impactos incluyen la coincidencia de las etapas de mayor demandade cuidado con momentos críticos en la carrera. Este estudio destaca laimportancia de abordar esta problemática para garantizar la equidad degénero en instituciones académicas
AB This article presents a systematic review of the literature published in the lasttwo decades on the relationship between motherhood and academic careers,analyzing its impact, gaps, and biases. The synthesized evidence confirmsthat motherhood negatively affects international mobility, productivity, andaccess to academic positions. Key factors amplifying these impacts include theoverlap between periods of high caregiving demands and critical career stages.This study highlights the importance of addressing this issue to ensure genderequity in academic institutions
