AB Este estudio ofrece la visión del ensayistaPeter George Patmore sobre el Romanticismoa través de la parodia a reseñas enRejected Articles (1826), una obra esencialpara entender un Romanticismo paraleloal canon más tradicional. Partiendo deuna introducción contextual del autor y laobra, se centra metodológicamente en ladiscusión sobre la naturaleza y estrategiasparódicas de la obra. El resultado muestrauna mejor comprensión del desarrollo dela crítica literaria romántica del momento,y una visión del Romanticismo poco convencionalen torno a los procesos de publicaciónde la época. Asimismo, se logra unretrato indirecto y original de estereotiposde importantes escritores románticos, amerced del mercado editorial, demostrandoasí la necesidad de recuperar el valor críticoy literario de la obra de Patmore.
AB This study offers the essayist P. G. Patmore’sview of Romanticism through theparody of literary reviews in Rejected Articles(1826), an essential work for understandinga Romanticism that ran parallel tothe more traditional canon. Starting with acontextual introduction of the author andhis work, it methodologically focuses onthe discussion of the nature and parodicstrategies of the work. The result providesa better understanding of the developmentof Romantic literary criticism of his time,and an unconventional view of Romanticismin terms of the publication processesof the time. It also provides an indirect andoriginal portrayal of stereotypes of relevantRomantic writers at the mercy of the publishingmarket, demonstrating in that waythe need to retrieve the critical and literaryvalue of Patmore’s work.
