T1 Post-conflict Failed States: lessons not learned from the West

AB El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo comprender las causas del fracaso de lasintervenciones de Occidente en contextos de fragilidad Estatal. Con tal fin se analizará en primerlugar en qué consiste el fracaso Estatal, haciendo referencia a sus causas e implicaciones. En unsegundo apartado se abordarán las intervenciones Occidentales de Postguerra Fría, describiendo eltránsito desde un enfoque humanitario a otro de seguridad y las consecuencias que emanan delmismo sobre sus intervenciones. En tercer lugar se indicarán las posibles razones que han conducidoal fracaso en las recientes intervenciones Occidentales en contextos de fragilidad estatal, conespecial atención a los conflictos en la llamada Zona Gris, cuyo carácter asimétrico y noconvencional tantos problemas causan tanto a los países intervenidos como a los intervinientes. Porúltimo, se ofrecerán unas conclusiones finales que resaltan la necesidad de una reformulaciónestratégica sobre la construcción Estatal
AB The purpose of this work is to understand the causes of the failure of Westerninterventions in contexts of state fragility. To this end, it will first examine what State failure consistsof, referring to its causes and implications. A second section will address Western Post-Cold Warinterventions, describing the transition from humanitarian to security approaches and theconsequences emanating from it on their interventions. Thirdly, it will be indicated the possiblereasons that have led to failure in recent Western interventions in contexts of state fragility, withparticular attention to conflicts in the so-called Grey Zone, whose asymmetrical and unconventionalnature will be so many problems cause both the intervened and the interveners. Lastly, finalconclusions will be offered that highlight the need for strategic reformulation on State Building
