AB El presente artículo toma una propuestaconcreta, la invitación al presidente de losEstados Unidos, Woodrow Wilson, a finalesde 1918, a que visitara España. La propuestaprovino del Conde de Romanones con la idea deproyectar el protagonismo de la España neutraldurante la Gran Guerra. Romanones volvió aser presidente del gobierno español en los cincomeses que transcurren desde el 5 de diciembre de1918 hasta el 15 de abril de 1919 marcados porla intensidad de las relaciones internacionales: laaplicación del Armisticio entre Alemania y losaliados junto a las primeras conversaciones entorno al futuro tratado de paz. Romanones viajóa París a finales de diciembre y tuvo un breveencuentro con el presidente de los Estados UnidosWoodrow Wilson. Los dos jefes de gobiernostrataron diversos asuntos y Romanones tuvouna peregrina propuesta: invitaba al presidenteWilson a España, concretamente, a visitar elpuerto de Palos y el monasterio de la Rábidaen la provincia de Huelva. AB This article takes a especific proposal,the invitation to the presidente of the UnitedStates, Woodrow Wilson, at the end of 1918, tovisit Spain.The proposal came from the Countof Romanones with the idea of proyectingthe prominence of neutral Spain duringthe Great War. Romanones was once againpresident of the Spanish government in thefive months that elapsed from December 5,1918 to April 15, 1919, marked by the intensityof international relations: the application ofthe Armistice between Germany and the alliesalong with the first talks about the future peacetreaty. Romanones traveled to Paris at the endof December and had a brief meeting withUnited States President Woodrow Wilson.The two heads of government discussedvarious issues and Romanones had a strangeproposal: he invited President Wilson to Spain,specifically, to visit the port of Palos andthe monastery of La Rábida in the provinceof Huelva. Under this symbolic umbrellaRomanones intended to elevate Spain in thenew framework of international relations thatwas being built in Europe after the war
