AB El estudio pretendió determinar la presencia de depresión y/o ansiedad enadultos con retinosis pigmentaria (RP) y en sus familiares, frente a un grupocontrol. También trató de averiguar si la agudeza visual (AV) de los afectadostenía relación con estas variables. Se utilizó el Cuestionario de AnsiedadSTAI y el Inventario de Depresión de Beck. Los resultados mostraron depresiónleve en los afectados y mayores niveles de ansiedad, como estado ycomo rasgo, tanto en ellos como en sus familiares; aunque no se encontrórelación con la AV. Se recomienda evaluar la ansiedad y la depresión tras eldiagnóstico de la enfermedad y transcurrido un tiempo, para proporcionarapoyo psicológico adecuado a los afectados y a los familiares.
AB The aim of this study was to determine the possible presence of depressionand / or anxiety in adults with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), as well as theirfamilies, compared to a control group. It was also intended to determine ifthe Visual Acuity (VA) have any impact on the variables analyzed. It wasused the State – Trait Anxiety Inventory and the Beck Depression Inventory.Results showed that anxiety was higher in people with RP and theirfamilies, as a state and as a feature, and the presence of mild depression inRP group. No relationship was found between VA and these variables. Itis recommended to evaluate anxiety and depression variables just after thediagnosis of the disease and again over time, in order to provide psychologicalsupport to those affected and their families.
