AB El siglo XIX es considerado un momentoclave en el desarrollo de diversos ámbitosde la sociedad, como la educación o lascomunicaciones. Se produce un cambio en laconcepción de la sanidad, la higiene y otrosfactores que se relacionan con la salud y lamortalidad. Asimismo, Huelva como capital,por sus características geográficas y por elcontexto, sufrió este mismo proceso conalgunas características propias. El objetivo esanalizar cuál era la situación higiénico-sanitariaen esta ciudad durante los últimos dos terciosdel siglo XIX, así como conocer los problemas alos que se tuvo que hacer frente y de qué manerase adoptaron soluciones, a través del análisis delas actas capitulares del Archivo Histórico delAyuntamiento onubense. La salud y la higienetuvieron un papel protagonista a partir de 1850,y en Huelva los esfuerzos fueron destinados alcontrol de las epidemias, la renovación de lasanidad y de la beneficencia
AB The 19th century is considered a keymoment in the development of various areas ofsociety, such as education and communications.There was a change in the conception ofsanitation, hygiene and other factors relatedto health and mortality. Likewise, Huelva as acapital city, due to its geographical characteristicsand context, underwent this same process withsome characteristics of its own. The objectiveis to analyze the hygienic-sanitary situationin this city during the last two thirds of the19th century, as well as to know the problemsthat had to be faced and how solutions wereadopted, through the analysis of the chapterminutes of the Historical Archive of the CityCouncil. Health and hygiene played a leadingrole from 1850 onwards, and in Huelva theefforts were aimed at the control of epidemics,the renovation of sanitation and charity
