AB The absence of diagnostic parageneses in the Cambrian metapellites of "Alconera" unit (Hesperian Massif, Spain) has precluded the determination of metamorphic conditions. White mica crystallinity index and composition, deduced from dm, bo and basal reflection intensity ratios have beem used as an initial approach. Incipient metamorphism evolve from deep diagenesis, for the middle Cambrian rocks to anchimetamorphism in the low e r Cambrian. Phengitic content o f mica indicates intermediate presure conditions
