RT Journal Article T1 Distribución areal y ecología de las asociaciones de ostrácodos recientes en la marisma Joyel (Cantabria) T1 Areal distribution and ecology of recent ostracods from the Joyel marsh (Cantabria, Spain) A1 Martín Rubio, Maite A1 Elorza Remón, M. A1 Rodríguez Lázaro, Julio A1 Pascual, Ana AB Recent ostracod assemblages of the Joyel marsh (Cantabria, N Spain) are described. Eigteen species areliving in this marsh. The strongly eurihaline species Loxoconcha elliptica dominates the assemblages in themost of samples, which is indicative of the estuarine character of the area. Taking into account the ecologyof these species, known from the literature, a zonal sketch of the different sub-environments is proposedfor this transitional area. Fresh to oligohaline waters are detected by the occurrence of continental speciesas Eucypris virens and Cypridopsis vidua. The estuarine influence is evidenced by the eurihaline characterof species such L. elliptica and Cyprideis torosa. A coastal marine zone is characterised by the occurrenceof more diversified assemblage with Leptocythere castanea, Aurila convexa, Aurila woutersi, Heterocythereisalbomaculata, Pontocythere elongata and Urocythereis oblonga, among others. Finally, the marine innershelf influence is denoted by the presence of Semicytherura sella, Basslerites sp. and Caudites calceolatus YR 2006 FD 2006 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8596 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8596 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 31 may 2026
