T1 La educación vial como instrumento de prevención

AB La misión de la educación vial desde la infancia,tanto en los entornos escolares comoen los familiares, debiera ser ante todo, y enel sentido más amplio, la de dar ejemplo.Es importante además enseñar lo básico de las normasde tráfico y la seguridad elemental. No es comúnque haya escuelas preparadas para poner en contactoa profesores y alumnos con las formas de actuaren la calle, sobre todo cuando los comportamientoshan de ser rigurosos, llenos de respeto a las normasy cuidadosos con el riesgo propio y ajeno.Cuando hablamos de seguridad vial, debemos saberque el factor humano está presente en un 90% delos accidentes: distracciones, exceso de confianza, incumplimiento de las normas, consumo de alcoholy drogas… Son comportamientos evitables con unabuena concienciación. Y esto no se consigue en dosdías, requiere de un aprendizaje continuo desde lasprimeras etapas de la vida. Y no solo en los centrosescolares, también los padres, las instituciones, los mediosde comunicación, Internet y las escuelas tienenun importante papel para mejorar la seguridad vial
AB The mission of road-safety education since childhood, in school environments as in the family ones, should be primarily, and in the broader sense, that one of setting example. It is also essential to teach the basics of the traffic regulations, and the elementary safety. It is not common to have schools prepared for meetings between teachers and students to let them know how to act in the street, mostly when the behaviours have to be strict, full of respect towards the rules, and careful with their own risk and other people’s one. When talking about road-safety education, we must know that the human factor is present in 90% of the accidents: distractions, excess confidence, non-compliance of the rules, the use of drugs and alcohol... They are behaviours that can be avoided with great awareness. This cannot be achieved in just two days; it requires a continuous learning since the early stages of life. However, not only the school centres, but also parents, institutions, media, Internet and schools have an important role to improve road safety.
