RT Journal Article T1 Methodology Proposal for the Management of Nursing Competencies towards a Strategic Training. A Theoretical Analysis A1 Sánchez Gómez, María Begoña A1 Novo Muñoz, Mercedes A1 Romero Martín, Macarena A1 Gómez Salgado, Juan AB Professional and academic legislation relating to nursing skills reflects conceptual andprofessional developments. In this sense, conceptual and methodological analyses are required todescribe the concept of nursing competencies, the individual or group self-perception of competencies,to identify training needs, and to specify the nursing professional profile within the health organization.A sequential mixed methodology was proposed combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative methodology involves the Focus Group and the Delphi technique. The quantitativemethodology involves surveying and analyzing self-perception (descriptive and analytical in relationto personal and professional variables and levels of excellence). The methodology was piloted amongprimary care nurses. Competencies were analyzed and distributed across the training program. The combination of qualitative and quantitative methods showed that obtaining a deep insight intothe nurses’ competencies would be a good process. This proposal is applicable as an approach toglobal nursing competencies or to a particular specialty PB MDPI SN 2227-9032 YR 2020 FD 2020-06 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/18443 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/18443 LA eng NO Sánchez Gómez, M.
