The ore bodies are crosscuted by veins, filled up by uvarovite with variable amounts of chromiferous clinochlore , calcite, titanite and rutile. Garnets are zoned and display a broad composition comprised between uvarovite and grossular end members. Their andradite content is very low. These garnets were formed by hydrothermal circulation during late episodes of ophiolite emplacement.}, publisher = {Sociedad Geológica de España}, title = {Granates de la serie Grosularia-uvarovita en cromititas prodiformes del yacimiento Mercedita (Cuba)}, title = {Grossular-uvarovite garnets in podiform chromitite from Mercedita deposit (Cuba)}, author = {Proenza, Joaquín A. and Melgarejo i Draper, J.
